One of the main aims in retirement is to enjoy the chance to travel and see something of the world. For many people the prospect of many foreign jaunts after retirement helps them through the years of saving and hard work. The great thing nowadays is the wide range of options available for travel and vacations. Cruise, fly, coach, bike or drive the choice is yours. But don't forget the travel insurance so you have peace of mind.It is easy to think you only need to cover your actual costs, such as travel and accommodation. This is of course important as the unexpected can always happen and there is no guarantee you'll be able to re-schedule at no expense. You are also covered if your journey hits problems. Unpleasant though it is to consider, you may become ill on your vacation. Hopefully it is just something minor, which soon resolves, but what if it is more serious. The costs of medical care soon increase especially if you need hospital care. If you need to meet all these costs yourself your money will soon evaporate. Accidents happen on holiday, especially if you're being adventurous. But if you injure yourself will you be able to get back OK? Will you in fact need a medical evacuation complete with nurse and / or doctor? This is eye wateringly expensive and if you need to finance this yourself it could easily take all your savings and more. Although travel insurance can be more expensive when you are older, it is well worth it for your peace of mind.
