I see a lot of dry studies about the impact of the internet on insurance marketing. I also talk to many agents who may, or may not, have a dedicated insurance sales websites. But while these marketers, egg heads, and agents are talking about the internet, others have already dived in full force.
Even while the US economy is struggling with the effects of recession, online business keeps growing. Many consumers search online for products and services, even when they will eventually purchase these things from a local business. When a web browser visits a search engine or directory to find answers to their questions, it is very important for you to get found. Otherwise, a more web savvy agency may take your business even if they are farther away or less qualified. They key here is to get found.
Improve Your Online Insurance Business
- Make sure you are listed in local business directories, and in directories that have local search features.
- Make sure you website reaches out to to tell potential consumers why they should take the next step with you, and what that next step is. I have seen many very nice websites fail to grow business just because they did not tell visitors what the next step was. If you want a potential consumer to call, make sure you put your phone number in an obvious place. If you want them to fill out a lead form, buy something, or email you, be sure and make sure they understand how to do this!
- Improve your major search engine ranking by seeking out quality links from other websites. You can do this through social networking, asking for links on other local business websites, and creating your own blogs. None of these things are hard to do. They do not require any special skills. But many agencies neglect this important step.
- Include your website address on offline materials too. These day, even after seeing your business card, presentation, or tv advertisement, many people want more time to check a website.
- Participate in consumer forums, how to websites, or Q&A systems. If you can establish yourself as a helpful and friendly expert in your products, you will be sure to attract some interested customers. Again, it is not hard to enroll and participate in these types of websites. Anybody who can sign up for email should be able to do this too.
All Age Groups Use the Web Today
The internet is not just for kids either. Of course, teens and young adults have grown up online. But older adults, and even seniors, are getting logged on. Many websites that are targetted to the over 50 and senior citizen age group are booming now. They go online to network, help with purchasing decisions, and to entertain themselves. All of this online activity creates a booming and active place for advertisers to thrive.
If any of these groups sounds like the type of people you want to talk ot, it is time for you to stop analyzing, and start finding these websites. You competitior is out there, and you should be too!
