Insurance Websites - Why Nobody Visits Your Insurance Agent Website

Author: Marilyn Katz

Whenever I discuss internet insurance marketing with an active agent, they always seem to have the same complaint. Their websites just do not seem to bring in a lot of new business for them.

What is the Problem with Insurance Websites?

These websites can be of different qualifies. Some come from agencies or insurers, some are self built with a website builder, and some are produced by private website designers. And while there may be some issues with the qualify and copy on the actual site, I think the main problem is something else. These insurance sites just do not generate much internet traffic.

Promoting an Insurance Website

If you built your website last night in your spare time, or if you spent hundreds of dollars to have a designer make you a work of art, you still need to do the rest of the work. You need to promote your website in other places. These can be offline and online mentions. This is true for any business, but is often overlooked by agents.

Search Engines

Major search engines, like Google, Yahoo, and MSN (Bing), produce a lot of of the visitors to websites through simple keyword searches. This may be paid traffic from the search engine programs, or it may be so-called free traffic from the main listings. Either way, insurance is a competitive market, and without some attention to search engine marketing, you are not likely to benefit from the millions of search engine users.

Other Online Promotion

You can also take advantage of other free and paid online promotion. Press releases, articles, link directories, forums, and social websites can help your own insurance website get noticed. The job or promoting a website can be time consuming and frustrating for newbies, but it can pay off in lots of fresh traffic to your own website. These visitors can turn into leads, and they can also turn into clients! Also be sure to include a link in your email signature.

Offline Website Promotion

After you have shown your new site to your friends and family, it may seem like traffic dies off. But you should consider taking advantage of other chances to let people know about your website. You can put your domain name on your business cards and other print materials. If you offer anything free to your clients, like stress balls or fridge magnets, make sure your website name is included on them. A client, or potential client, may not remember your phone number. But they are more likely to remember your website name!

We want to help you generate more internet insurance visitors with online and offline website promotion.
