The association does not say this is the only attack they feel Michigan lawmakers are making against the insurance companies as they say this has been an ongoing problem for insurance providers within the state for quite some time.According to the Association the petition is aiming to make a number of changes to the insurance industry within Michigan State borders, the least of which will be a 20% rate cut for auto, home and business coverage of all insurance types. They say that while they feel the petitioners are pushing for this bill in order to benefit by a further insurance industry overhaul they fear that it may end up hurting consumers more than helping them. The primary concern amongst both people and companies at this time is what effects these bills may have upon both monthly insurance premiums as well as future plan coverage for residents of Michigan. In the past the Michigan Legislature has already voted down a bill that would affect the auto insurance industry by requiring them to not use geographic factors in assessing insurance premium costs as they say that it would end up costing consumers more overall by approving this.
